Recently, Tami Hedrick joined MATTER as our new national development director. Here are some Q&A to help you get to know her better!
Welcome to MATTER Tami. Can you tell us a little about your professional background?
I am so excited to be part of the MATTER team! For the last several decades, I worked in the professional sports industry with the Minnesota Vikings. My most recent role was director of women’s initiatives, strategic development, and cheerleading. It was fun to direct two of the most successful departments in women’s initiatives and cheer across the NFL. In these roles, I’ve been involved in sales, marketing, events, operations and production.
Outside of the Vikings, I have served as the president of the Women in Sports and Events Twin Cities Chapter since its inception and am now on the advisory board. Recently, I was named one of the Top 50 Women in Business by the Minneapolis St. Paul Business Journal and am active with several local professional women’s groups. I’m also a former Mrs. Minnesota America and International, was a network television home shopping on-air host for nearly four years, and am a real estate agent in the Twin Cities.
What is your new role at MATTER?
I plan to bring all of my experience and connections together to serve the greater good at MATTER in my new role as national development director. I am focused on introducing the MATTERbox, consisting of healthy meal kits and snack packs, as an easy way for organizations throughout the United States to give back to their local communities while engaging their employees. There is so much opportunity for us to expand our impact with new partners and in new communities, which is very exciting!
What motivates you?
My passion is to dream big and see those dreams realized. MATTER really matches this well, as they also have big dreams and plans to change the world. I believe we can do great things when our skills, passion and dreams align.
Anything else you would like to share?
I am a proud wife to my husband Matt, a Sergeant in the police department. We have a blended family with seven children and a “fur baby” – a Yorki-poo, who is the princess of the house! We love to go boating and traveling, fishing, kayaking, reading, and enjoy eating out together.
Thanks for introducing yourself to MATTERnation today, Tami!
