At MATTER, we are committed to finding innovative ways to forward our mission to expand access to health. Whether it’s through our unique You MATTER snack packs for kids in our local community or a custom-designed surgical pod in Congo, we are determined to find creative, meaningful ways to meet the needs of people in our community and around the world.
Our newest collaborative initiative to raise funds for MATTER programs is MATTERhouse. This exciting home building program leverages the skills and resources of many of the Twin Cities top tradespeople, subcontractors and suppliers in order to raise funds for MATTER and other local nonprofits dedicated to improving access to healthy eating in our community.
The first MATTERhouse project will benefit MATTER and Community Cares, an amazing Minnesota food bank that supplies local food shelves in the Minneapolis area with fresh and healthy foods.
The Community Cares MATTERhouse is a collaborative effort between three Twin Cities builders: McDonald Construction, Heartland Homes, and Destiny Homes, under the coordination of Joe Miller. These builders, along with their subcontractors and suppliers, will donate a portion of their labor and/or materials to increase the profit from the sale of the home. The proceeds from the sale will allow both Community Cares and MATTER to continue the work of eliminating barriers to healthy eating in the Twin Cities.
“It’s exciting to be part of something that will impact so many lives just by doing what we do best – building a home. I would encourage others to join us in this rewarding project.” Mike Heinzerling, Heartland Homes
The Community Cares MATTERhouse is breaking ground this spring. Look for updates on MATTER social media as construction gets under way.
