There was great need, and MATTERnation responded. In the two months since The Children Matter Benefit Concert on September 20, there has been a steady stream of support for hurricane relief coming in and critical aid going out from MATTER in seven shipments to affected areas in Houston, Anguilla, Dominica and Puerto Rico.
Thanks to the support of many donors, volunteers and partners, we have provided more than $1.9M in humanitarian relief aid, including MATTERbox meal kits and other food items, sanitation and contamination prevention supplies and more to trusted partners working directly with the people affected by hurricane devastation.
The concert provided an opportunity to mobilize our hurricane relief efforts on a large scale, bringing together The Gene Simmons Band, Cheap Trick, Don Felder, Ace Frehley, Flipp and The Jayhawks, for a night to raise support for those affected by Hurricane Harvey just weeks before. With hurricanes Irma and Maria close on Harvey’s heels, the need for assistance grew and MATTERnation continued to respond.
The concert brought awareness to the opportunity to support those in need, and our community responded in force. Generous support from concert-goers, individual donations, sponsors Popp Communications, Spire Credit Union, City View Electric, Lube Tech, General Mills, KQRS, Little, and the performers, leveraged the $1.9M in humanitarian aid MATTER sent to four hurricane affected areas.
In addition to financial support, our Companies that MATTER and partners rallied their employee volunteers to pack MATTERbox snack and meal kits for distribution to families and individuals in hurricane-stricken areas, including groups from Target, General Mills, Lube Tech, Blake School, Eaton and Land O’Lakes.
Thank you, MATTERnation, for being the foundation in our efforts to expand access to health, next door and around the world.
This giving season, support MATTER and give the gift of health.
