“Creating a better world requires teamwork, partnerships, and collaboration…”
So says best selling author and brand futurist, Simon Mainwaring, and we here at MATTER couldn’t agree more. Only through collaboration with local and global organizations, can we fulfill our mission to move people forward by eliminating barriers to a healthier life. As we like to say, partnerships matter.
On September 10, the Thielen Foundation, founded by Minnesota Viking Adam Thielen and his wife, Caitlin, announced an exciting partnership with Brooklyn Center High School to support athletic programs and educational success with the goal of closing the achievement gap for girls and boys student-athletes in the district. Adam Thielen was named the week’s NFLPA Community MVP for launching this effort.
As part of the initiative, MATTERbox snack packs will be provided to the student-athletes on game day to help them play to their full potential as they learn the value of health and nutrition in daily performance. Speaking to the athletes at Brooklyn Center, Adam explained why the snack packs were included in this initiative,
“We’re providing nutrition for you guys on game day which I think is going to be really cool. It’s essential for you to know that it’s not just about how you train, but it’s also about nutrition and the fuel you put in your body.”
MATTER was honored to collaborate with the Thielen Foundation in this initiative, but in order to provide the snack packs to the school, we needed a partner to come alongside us to pack them.
Enter MOBE. MOBE partners with health insurance companies and large employers to provide health solutions. Through one-to-one guidance on lifestyle, medication, and health care choices, MOBE helps people live happy, healthy lives.
At a recent company-wide meeting, 160 enthusiastic employees packed two thousand snack packs for the initiative at Brooklyn Center High School. MOBE’s Director of Brand Marketing, Barb Buenz, explained why MOBE chose to be part of this collaboration.
“MOBE’s all about helping people understand how every lifestyle choice they make influences the next. How we eat, sleep, think, and move all affect how good we feel—and how well we perform. There are so many life lessons kids learn as athletes, and if they get the connection between nutrition and movement early on, well, that’s everything.”
For MOBE’s CEO, Chris Cronin, joining forces with MATTER to impact the community was an easy choice given how closely the two organizations align.
“MOBE’s mission is guiding people to better health and more happiness. One of the core principles we focus on is nutrition and we saw the clear tie with what MATTER is doing in trying to help people live healthier and more full lives. So the opportunity to partner with MATTER that has both a local and global footprint was something that appealed to us and we see it as a great synergy between the two organizations.”
