Excitement is building for October 3, 2019, when MATTER holds its 2019 YOU MATTER Gala at the McNamara Alumni Center in Minneapolis! It promises to be an engaging evening celebrating the collaborative work of MATTER with our partners, donors and friends in bringing health and hope to millions of people next door and around the world.
Taking a new approach this year, using informative TED-style talks, MATTER’s speakers will expound on the big challenges that MATTER is tackling as part of its strategic plan for the next several years.
These challenges are:
Challenge 1 – Half the world’s population is unable to access essential health services.
Challenge 2 – Due to obesity, unhealthy eating habits, and physical inactivity, kids today may be less healthy and may have a shorter life expectancy than their parents.
Challenge 3 – The next generation does not have the necessary problem solving, critical thinking, and continuous learning skills that will allow them to compete in a technologically driven world.
Starting at 5:30 p.m., guests will enjoy cocktails and small plate dining, while experiencing activations illustrating MATTER’s solutions to these pressing challenges, participating in a mini-auction, and taking part in a wine and bourbon pull.
Next, at 7:00 p.m., our program zeroes in on the key challenges with compelling insights from several outstanding speakers including Chris Cronin, CEO of MOBE, a company on a mission to help people enjoy better health and more happiness, and Lual Mayan, a South Sudanese developer and Founder of Junub Games, an organization dedicated to creating games that bring social change.
Throughout the night, guests will be invited to support MATTER in tackling these challenges and creating a world where everyone matters.
